Positive message of support for club and community sport

The priority areas of Connect, Develop and Champion, along with the value and dedication of volunteers are identified, by current Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care as key themes of how the Scottish ClubSport network supports club and community sport.

In this short message, received following our AGM in September 2026., Neil Gray MSP thanks us for the tremendous passion for sport displayed by the Scottish ClubSport Network, and outlines how the network, through our members and their affiliated local organisations, bring people together through sport and get everyone involved.

He recognises the work that our contribution at a local level contributes to the Scottish Government’s Physical Activity for Health Framework by helping to get people more active, more often leading to healthier lives. We create links with others and strengthen the sporting system all whilst helping people to be more active.

Also, he highlights the dedication and passion of volunteers at grassroots levels also helps to keep sport alive within Scotland’s communities and empower young people too. Something we, at Scottish ClubSport echo – thank you for your hard work!

Scottish ClubSport received this video as the Cabinet Secretary was originally due to be a main speaker at our 2025 Conference, however due to the changes in circumstances, he wanted to ensure the hard work done by the network didn’t go unnoticed and sent us this update.

Here’s hoping that we will have the opportunity to hear from the (new) Cabinet Secretary at our 2026 Conference on Saturday 5th September. More information on this year’s conference to follow!
