ClubSport of the Year – ClubSport Glasgow

This award is to recognise the ongoing support that the Sports Council and ClubSport network has provided to its members.

This ClubSport Network has grown from strength to strength post covid. Despite funding being cut, their membership has grown year on year and they have developed new and exciting partnerships whilst sustaining existing partnerships. New partnerships with Strathclyde Sport saw the first members welcome event where young people had the opportunity to visit and tour the facilities of Strathclyde Sport, as part of the University of Strathclyde, and speak with key staff about the opportunities young people could have in sport – from a club, volunteering and talented athlete perspective.

This ClubSport Network have also led the way with building exciting relationships and have developed a monthly recognition award with Decathlon UK Glasgow store where each month a club, coach or volunteer is recognised for their achievements and presented with a voucher for the store or online shop. The ClubSport Network continue the delivery of their fantastic annual awards which are hosted in the City Chambers, an evening that brings together over 200 people and is supported by council leaders and local businesses to recognise talented sports people, volunteers, clubs and organisations.

This ClubSport Network has also developed new partnerships with Hampden sports clinic that gives members discount on treatment and the ClubSport Network have ensured effective and regular communications through newsletters and social media, making sure members and wider-networks are kept up to date with opportunities, training, funding and vacancies.

A strong committee with supportive and effective working groups that engage additional volunteers – this ClubSport Network also supports an annual football festival that sees over 5,000 people attend. The ClubSport Network are regularly attending local events across their city to promote the ClubSport Network and attract new members – always showcasing the local benefits to clubs across Glasgow.
