Elevate Acro gymnastics club win club of the year
Introduced in 2024, the Club of the Year award is presented to recognise the achievements of a local club who has gone above and beyond to support it’s members, volunteers, coaches, community and more. This year’s club of the year was nominated by ClubSport West Lothian for everything they have done in their local community!
After a local club’s closure in January 2025 left 750 gymnasts without a home a group of volunteers pulled together to start a new club. They amassed a number of volunteer coaches and charity trustees and launched Elevate just eight weeks later.
Within six months the club delivered 12,000 session places to children across West Lothian, including those with additional needs. They have also held a 300 person launch event, a summer programme with 350 places, school outreach and national competition success.
Elevate Acro Gymnastics Club has also attended local community events, visited and worked with sporting organisations within their local West Lothian community and wider gymnastics community and have raised a significant amount of money for equipment and grants to support their ongoing development.
Bronwen Smyth, the club’s chairperson stated that they were “thrilled to have been awarded ‘Club of the Year’ by Scottish ClubSport” and continued that “ClubSport West Lothian have been extremely supportive and it’s a great organisation for local sports groups and clubs to be a member of – offering helpful and practical advice and knowledge, and access to training and resources and a wider network.”
In a testament to all the hard work done bone the club, gymnasts, their families and the local community, alongside the coaches, Operations Manager, volunteer charity trustees and parent fundraisers, the club was also recently recognised by Scottish Women In Sport Community Champion of the Year and were also shortlisted in the club section at the Scottish Gymnastics Awards.
