aBERDEENSHIRE CLUBSPORT SCIO WIN CLUBSPORT NETWORK & SPORTS COUNCIL OF THE YEAR
This award is to recognise the ongoing support that a Sports Council and ClubSport Network has provided to its members and Aberdeenshire Clubsport SCIO is no stranger to winning it.
The committee has a core of 8 volunteers and the network has a clear aim of encouraging, developing, and promoting sport & physical activities. Through quality service to the over 240 clubs they support, assist and advise; over 20,00 participants and 1100 volunteers from across the ages, benefit from being involved with this network.
Aberdeenshire Clubsport also have a great partnership with their local council, enableing them to provide numerous grants to organisations and individuals from across the sporting landscape. The network are particularly proud of their Positive Participation Grant which has seen new activities rolled out in the most rural corners of the Shire through either existing clubs providing new satellite sessions or brand new clubs forming. The grant also allows clubs to upgrade tired and old equipment making sessions safe and more appealing which in turn provides sustainability and a legacy to many clubs that means they are now thriving (rather than just surviving).
Also the Aberdeenshire Clubsport’s 2025 Awards evening – their biggest to date – had a record crowd of over 320 guests attend to celebrate and recognise the hard work and dedication of athletes, coaches and volunteers from across the area in 17 different categories. In order to support the event, the committee brought in over £12,000 in sponsorship with many sponsors returning along with some new ones too. Goreat work by all.
