The winner of the Scottish ClubSport Service to Sport award, sponsored by Forsyths is Neil Dalgleish. The award was presented at this years ClubSport Tweeddale awards evening to recognise Neil`s long standing commitment and efforts towards community and club sport.

It’s difficult to find anyone in Tweeddale who hasn’t heard of Neil Dalgleish he is certainly “Peebles famous,” Neil is the visionary behind Tweedlove and countless events that have transformed our community. For over 14 years, our towns have come alive with visitors eager to participate in the outdoor adventures Neil has orchestrated—road cycling, trail running, cyclocross, and mountain biking events in all their forms, many of which have become staples on the calendars of enthusiasts and families alike.
Tweedlove has become synonymous with the vibrancy Neil has brought to our valley. Yet, this is just the tip of the iceberg. From outdoor cinemas to world-class enduro racing, Neil and his dedicated team have created thousands of opportunities for people to engage with the Tweedlove spirit. While many might only see the excitement during the bustling few days on Tweedgreen each year, the effort behind the scenes is immense. Neil coordinates a remarkable team of volunteers, extending their reach for weeks and miles into the hills.
In 2023, we saw the Great Britain Cross Country Team at the Glentress for the UCI World Championships, many of these riders honed their skills at events organized by Neil. For countless locals, it’s hard to remember a time before Tweedlove. Neil has opened doors for both novice and seasoned riders, ensuring that every child in our community has a pathway into the sport.
Among those who have grown up with Tweedlove are Rose, James, and Robin, all of whom, alongside Neil’s wife, Fiona, embody the family spirit that permeates every Tweedlove event, from Glentress 7 to international enduros. Returning racers have witnessed the tireless dedication of the entire Dalgleish family and have appreciated their contributions, often without realizing it.
Tonight, as we honour Neil with the Service to Sports Award, let’s also acknowledge the entire Dalgleish family for their unwavering support and commitment to our community. Please join me in giving a warm round of applause to Neil Dalgleish and his family, our deserving award recipient.
