The winner of the Scottish ClubSport Service to Sport award, sponsored by Forsyths is Val Plant. The award was presented by Wigtownshire Sports Council to recognise Val`s long standing commitment and efforts towards community and club sport.
This years recipient of the Scottish ClubSport Service to Sport award, sponsored by Forsyths is Val Plant.
Extract from the awards presentation:
“Val is Junior Golf Convenor at Stranraer Golf Club with the aim of growing the number of junior golfers in Stranraer and Wigtownshire. He takes an active part in working with schools to allow pupils to participate in golf.
The growth of junior participation in golf has grown year on year, reflected in the increasing number of junior members.
Val was recognised by Wigtownshire Sports Council last year for all that he has done to encourage junior golfers over the past sixteen years. This included securing grants to employ PGA Pro Stuart Fisher to lead extra classes alongside running a team of coaches.
A truly remarkable dedication to junior golf.”
